The combination of Rennovia's bio-based adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine (HMD) enables the production of 100% bio-based nylon-6,6. Nylon 6,6 is used extensively in automotive applications, where it is especially prized for its heat resistance, enabling under-the-hood applications. Nylon 6,6 is also widely used in fiber applications, including textiles, carpet, technical fiber, and tire cord. Rennovia is targeting the production of drop-in bio based replacements for existing petrochemical-based adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine (HMD) with identical downstream performance and characteristics in all market applications. Supplying our customers with existing chemicals, renewably-derived, will help meet consumer demand for green products with minimum new product qualification. Importantly, Rennovia intends to utilize readily available biorenewable feedstocks that are used today primarily for the production of high fructose corn syrup, which is already declining in use in the U.S., and intends to be able to utilize cellulosic sugars when they become available at scale.
